Frequent problems in VVT engines are faulty Solenoids, failed pressure switches, and worn Connectors. These can lead to rough idling, rattling noises on engine startup, increased vibrations, and an increase in fuel consumption. When inspecting VVT sprockets and solenoids, additionally check up on the Cam Belt Tensioner to ensure proper belt function and that no debris damages the belt when the assembly is fitted with the right Timing Belt Covers.
