Purolator Warranty Information

The following is a summary of manufacturer warranty terms. This summary in no way modifies or supersedes the original terms.

Purolator General Warranty

Length of Warranty

This limited warranty is effective for the number of miles and driving severity published in the ownerʼs vehicle manual as the recommended service interval for filter replacements (“Warranty Period”). Purolator will replace, free of charge, any Filter which, under normal conditions of use, is proven to be defective in material or workmanship and is within the Warranty Period. If Purolator further determines, in its sole discretion, that the alleged defective Filter caused engine damage during the Warranty Period, Purolator will also repair or replace any damaged engine parts. New car warranties remain in effect when Purolator filters are used in accordance to the engine manufacturer's change intervals.

Exclusions

THIS LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER misapplication, misinstallation and damages or failure caused by rust or corrosion. THIS LIMITED WARRANTY IS VOID under the following circumstances:

  • Use of motor oil other than the viscosity and type as recommended in the ownerʼs vehicle manual;
  • Damage or failure caused by misuse, negligence, modification, accidents or abuse;
  • Damage or failure caused by unauthorized service or use of unauthorized parts; and
  • Filters which are submitted in a condition that prohibits testing to validate any alleged defect or malfunction.

Eligibility Requirements

Claims for engine repairs provided under this warranty must be submitted within 30 days after discovery of damage. Purolator Technical Services Department and Sixity Auto reserves the right to examine the engine and filter to determine the amount of damage and whether it was caused by a defective Purolator filter. This warranty DOES NOT COVER any product that has been subjected to misuse, neglect, negligence or accident, or that has been improperly maintained, operated or installed. The warranty DOES NOT APPLY to any damage to the product that is the result of rust or corrosion.

Note: Fuel pumps and or filters and injectors are considered to be hazardous materials once exposed to the fuel. Transportation of such items is under the jurisdiction of the Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations 49 CFR 173.4 for shipping a limited quantity of dangerous goods (residual gasoline).
