Cylinder Block Components

The Engine or Cylinder Block is the casing that contains the cylinders and the crankcase. Auxiliary parts and components, such as the oil and water pumps are directly attached to the block to circulate coolant and oil in internal passageways and sleeves. Connected parts include the cylinder head atop the block and the oil pan below. Car Gaskets separate both to ensure proper sealing and prevent leaks. In overhead valve (OHV) engines, the block also contains the camshaft and vital Fuel Delivery Parts such as Engine Rocker Arms.
